Kevin Hodges with Colt

Colt is a rescue heeler/border collie. He had a tremendous 2015 season.  He started jumping in April and quickly progressed through Novice and by the end of the season he was achieving Elite and Super Elite jumps.  He not only earned an invitation to the 2015 DockDogs World Championship, he was the 2015 World Champion in Big Air Elite Division!!!!!  We are so proud of Colt and Kevin and are looking forward to what 2017 brings them.

Felicia Houston with Abby & Marley

Abby is my fearless one and has been dock diving for fun since 2013, competes in every discipline, her favorite so far being EV with a personal best so far of 5' 8."  Marley is just getting started.  He tried it out at an event last year but wasn't yet comfortable jumping off the dock.  This is his year and we are looking forward to see what he does in 2017!

Babz Mahoney with Miss Kitty & Jolene

Both Miss Kitty and Jolene are Disc dogs . I am a founding member of UpDog Challenge.
Miss kitty has many cat like behaviors including making biscuits and pouncing.
Jolene has magical powers and eats nothing but cotton candy , which is why she is pink.

Matt Bohn with Flyer & Kratos

Matthew Bohn has been a long time friend of the club before he joined our SMDD family. He and Flyer travel all over to compete in events. Matthew lives in Ohio and is President of Buckeye DockDogs as well. Matthew also helps clubs set up, break down, and everything in between. SMDD presented Matthew the Contributor Award in 2013 because was such an asset to our club. We appreciate that he helps ANY club at any event that he attends.  Matt was also awarded the 2015 DockDogs Cheerleader Award for being so supportive of competitors across the country.

Matt and Flyer earned an invitation to the 2015 DockDogs World Championships and were an excellent representative for SMDD.  They also welcomed in a new puppy named Kratos this past year.  Kratos took to the dock very quickly and earned an invitation to Worlds in the new sport of Dueling Dogs.

Vice President-
Brooke Jillson with Sophie, Dallas & Drake

Sophie's love for dock diving was sparked at the Harley Davidson event in 2013, and she took off the dock and never looked back. Her 2016 season was filled with achievements such learning the discipline of Extreme Vertical and competing in Iron Dog for the first time. She is the apple of her mother's eye, and is unconditionally loved! Cheers to a great 2017 dock diving season! #Aussiemom, #aussienation

Drake is Sophie's Lab brother from another mother.  He has been the SMDD Novice King and has event pulled out some solid Junior level jumps.  We look forward to seeing how he progresses this year.  Email Brooke at [email protected]

Board Member-Jennifer Belle with Buckeye , Urban & Sloopy

Team Scarlet & Gray are ready to hit the docks this year! Look for a new team logo that the will be unveiling this season.  They love dock diving, playing frisbee, ball, and playing with their brother, Mojo.  Buckeye had an amazing 2015 season.  She earned multiple invitations to the 2015 DockDogs World Championship and was named SMDD 2015 Team of the Year.  They have been working hard on conditioning in the off season and we can't wait to see how it pays off this coming season. Urban is the new addition and just turned 6 months and showing that he is going to be a star!

Debra Mittelsteadt with Luna, Snap, & Charm

We are ADDICTED to DockDogs!!!! We are half of Team Royal Flush and love to travel to compete anywhere theres a dock! 2013 was our first complete season and have been doing this since 2012. If by chance we are to receive any gifts during our events we donate 100% to Tails of Hope Rescue out of Locust, NC. Luna Bug is a rescue from CBRR&R. She came to us as a foster and well, we fell in love. Luna is a very loyal and loving pup but at DD events you will think otherwise, lol. She has a toy drive like mad crazy and will "kill it" just coming out of the pool.

Amanda Janicki with Bria & Caffrey

Bria is a purebred dutch shepherd that flunked out of police dog training. She is a handful and loves to play with toys! They also compete in flyball and agility. This will be Bria's third full season of dockdiving! She has earned an invitation to the DockDogs World Championship in 2014 & 2015.  They plan to bring it on like Donkey Kong in 2016!

2015 also brought a little brother to Bria.  Caffrey is also a Dutch Shepherd and we are looking forward to watching him grow up this year.

Karin Harrison with Finn

Karin works with the Chesapeake Bay Retriever rescue.
Baylee started dock diving in 2010 @ 8 yrs young. Not a record breaker but she sure has a lot of fun!

Dallas is a rescue saved in 2012, he loves swimming, retrieving and he is a champion tennis ball destroyer!

Trish Isbell with Coale

Coale comes from a family of active pups and he needed a sport of his own.  He came out and gave dock diving a try and was hooked.  He is looking forward to his Rookie season in 2017.

Leah Smith with Libby & Luke

Libby has competed in multiple dog sports such as agility, obedience and dock diving. She now jumps & swims for fun. Luke was adopted in 2014 and by season end he learn how to swim and jump off the dock. He competed some at the end of the 2014 season, I am so excited to see what he can accomplish this year. Senior Rock! I also have a Shih Tzu and Maltese who enjoy swimming as well.

Secretary- Kaye Noble with Molly and Tank

This will be Kaye's 4th year with SMDD and it has been great meeting new people, new dogs and watching the progress that both of them make. She support her habit and dogs by working as a nurse with Sertoma, a developmentally disabled facility where people love to go to work! Molly is a BC, and a curly one, which is a little odd. She was mostly bred for herding and definitely has that trait. She does love to play games, thus I'm never sure if she is going to jump or come back at me and bark. Tank is a yellow typical crazy corny lab. He loves the water and is loving every aspect of dock diving. [email protected]

Treasurer- Matthew Gyurgik with Alli, Hanna, & Eevee

Board Member- Michael Anthony with Maggie

Maggie earned an invitation to the 2016 DockDogs World Championship in Big Air Junior. She was also the top ranked Speed Retrieve Turbo dog for SMDD events in 2016.  Wrigley is a water driven dog and jumps to get wet. She isn't the biggest jumper, but she IS the happiest jumper and always smiles when she jumps. They are part of a hard core group that battles it out in the Junior division! Email Lesley at
[email protected]

Jennifer Alcozer with Genie Marie

Genie is a Legend Dog who got her family into this crazy sport of dock diving.  She absolutely loves the frisbee and has a blast on the dock.  She and Jennifer were voted the 2016 SMDD Most Inspiring Team of the Year.  We love watching them work together on the dock.

Kurt and June Hagman with Khaleesi & Drogo

Khaleesi started jumping competitively jumping at age 2. The best part is how much she loves the water. It's a great sport for your dog to keep active and in shape.

Shari Schukraft with Meadow & Sage

Chessies on the Dock are Meadow, Sage, and their handler Shari Schukraft. They have been competing in dock diving since 2007.

In her prime Meadow achieved 7' in Extreme Vertical over 10 times in her career. She was the 5th ranked Female Iron Dog in the World in 2011. She has a career personal bests of 25'2" in Air, 6.747 in Speed Retrieve, 2966.76 in Iron Dog. Meadow has been to David Letterman Diving Dog. Meadow placed 4th at the 2016 DockDog World Championship Legend Division Finals. Meadow is part of the logo for Aqua Healing Canine Hydrotherapy and Fitness.

Sage is was retired from Dock Diving in early 2016 due to osteoarthritis and fusion in her spine. Sage has personal bests of 6'2" in Vertical, 7.630 in Speed Retrieve and 18'8" in Air. Sage has always been silly and unpredictable on the dock. She would always run up and down the dock leaving everyone to guess whether she would really jump or not. She loved her first and only season of Dueling Dogs. Sage loves coming to events to hang out with Meadow. She still actively swims several times a week in a hydrotherapy pool. Unlike Meadow who has had many World Championship invites, Sage's one and only invite to Worlds was in 2015 for Veteran and Dueling Dogs. It was so special to have her compete at Worlds the year before retiring her.

We have been blessed with many years and memories in this sport we so love. Those memories will last a lifetime. As the curly girls have aged the scores have declined. I said when we began the sport that we would do this as long as Meadow and Sage were still having fun. Sage may be retired, but Meadow is still physiologically sound and still loves the dock. The scores don't matter, what matters is the synergy created between human and dog in every moment, of every day.

Skylar Anthony with Gunner

This will be Gunner's second season with SMDD.  He and Skylar were the 2016 Top Youth Handler Team in SMDD.  He likes playing at the local lake and creek with Maggie. We all can't wait to see how he does this season

Charlotte Blake with Rio, Aztec, Voss, Pita, & Yazoo

Starting our 2nd year in Dock Dogs, hoping it lives up to our first. Voss finished 2016 as the Vice Champion in Extreme Vertical High Flyer, Vice Champion in Big Air Super Elite and 3rd place in Iron Dog Spartan. He might be starting the game as an older dog but he loves jumping for his frisbee. His personal best this year was 28'9", 8'4" in EV, and Iron dog - 3106. Pita, the youngest on the team was the 2016 Big Air Master World Champion, pulling out her first jumps over 20 ft at worlds. I'm excited to see her start doing EV and competing in Iron dog this year. Rio made the finals in Warrior Iron dog. He always gives 110%. Aztec is a bit injured at the moment but he's hoping to make it back to compete in 2017. Yazoo is the new guy, hasn't been on a real dock yet. He's showing a ton of potential and can't wait for him to experience and enjoy the dock.
As well to Dock Diving, we play disc, agility, and enjoy ring sports. Excited for 2017 season to start.

Kimberly McGrew with Viper

Viper started dock diving late in 2016, and 2017 will be his first full season. He is not the best jumper but he loves the water and we hope to improve. He is a big momma's boy and may be a little spoiled. We look forward to having fun, making new friends, and learning alot more

Shannon Thurston with Bentley & Ruth

My girls are both older and they are medical cases, although they do still love to swim. As an OLK9 trainer, I'm more interested in getting to know the great folks in your group and possibly bringing a client dog to events from time to time. Plus, I trained Jen & Buckeye so being a member just makes sense. :)

Kim Dunn with Edgar

Kim and Edgar have just discovered this crazy sport of dock diving.  They are learning quickly and we are looking forward to seeing what they can do on the dock this year!

Julie Poole with Chroma & Minnie

Julie has a house full of Whippets but so far Chroma is the only one who enjoys dock diving.  They have a new puppy in the house, Minnie, and everyone is very hopeful that she will take to the sport as she already love playing in water.  Looking forward to watching these two beauties this year.

Kathleen Elmore & Kona

In the summer of 2014 Kona discovered her Love for DD and she hit the dock running. And hasn't looked back yet! In 2015 we hit the dock running with an World Championships invite on our minds. We traveled to Texas for the Regionals and endured rain and floods to come home with a invite. Not only did she earn her invites in BA SR she also earned a ranking invite for ID. She showed her true talent for this sport last year. Couldn't be more proud of my silly Rotties girl! At the end of 2015 season Kona got injured on the dock and was unable to attend Worlds last year. Our hopes and dreams for this year are to come back stronger and ready to ROCK THE DOCK! And chase the dream of seeing my Rottie girl Kona under the big lights jumping at the World Championships 2016! The only time Kona has not got DD on her mind is when there is a Lure Course nearby. Kona LOVES bumper time! Looking forward to to seeing and meeting new friends on the Dock 2016! And I can't wait to see where this journey she is taking us on leads!

Brenda Jenks & Mark Zeimet with Argent

Argent and his family have been friends of SMDD for years and we are thrilled that they decided to join the SMDD family this year.  They were already family in a sense  because Argent is related to another club member, Sloopy.  We love watching Argent on the dock.

This will be Theresa, Matthew and Indy’s 5th year competing.  They have been dockdiving since fall of 2012, when they wandered into a dock diving competition in NC. Indy really hit her stride last year, reaching a new personal best of 21’06’ with Matt.  Indy loves taking her sweet time swimming back to the ramp. But when you are that small and use up all that energy to fly, those little legs get tired!!!  She has earned many beloved nicknames: Poopy. Poopy Pants. Nugget. Nugget Butt. Aussie Gator.  Indy also enjoys Disc Dog, Barn Hunt, Lure Coursing (earned her BCAT in 2016) and has an Expert Tricks Title.

Grae has started successfully jumping off the dock in 2016! He has to have his security siblings on the dock with him, but at least he’s jumping and he’s having a blast doing it! It’s definitely baby steps for my bubs! He has a few nicknames as well: Grae Grae. Bubs. Bubby. Sweet Boy. Lover boy. Grae also enjoys Barn Hunt, Lure Coursing and has a Novice Tricks Title.

Toews (pronounced Tayes) had a great rookie year. He went from learning how to jump off a dock to earning a DDWC invite in the Elite division. He is all about that crazy border brain of his and is a ball of insane energy! We’ve also been learning about disc and lure coursing. He earned his BCAT at teh end of 2016. We are so happy to have our Crazy Toewsy in our lives!

Team Air Aussie is excited for the 2017 season to start!

John and Kristin have 7 dogs and love to do things with all of them. Jed's specialty is Frisbee and has discovered his natural ability to swim in pursuit of his favorite toy. Nigel is crazy in all things including swimming and jumping and will hopefully be able to get comfortable putting those things together.

Jamie Thompson with Shey

Shey learned how to swim in 2015 and within one month he couldn't get enough of big air jumps. Shey is so much fun to watch on the dock and is a true powerhous.

His favorite thing to do is to meet you at the door with one of his many hidden socks.

Tracy Wagner with Mick

Having just joined SMDD last fall, I’m a newbie to this sport. I’ve been involved in springers for 30 years and my interests include conformation, obedience and rally. All of my springers have been multi-titled in AKC, UKC, CKC, and ASCA. I’m thrilled that I am able to add dock diving to the list. My 4-footed partner is “Mick”, my year and a half old English Springer spaniel. Mick is everything I like in this breed and what I look for when choosing a puppy. He possesses a ton of attitude, athleticism, and drive. To say he has energy to spare is an understatement! As soon as he sees his vest, he’s raring to go. His introduction to
the pool and learning to jump has gone very well and we’re both enjoying learning this new sport. We still have a lot to learn, but we’re looking forward to this coming year!
